Upcoming Event: NDSA Philly Regional Meeting/Regional Unconference January 23-24 2014

Members of Philly DH and others interested in Digital Humanities in the Greater Delaware Valley should find this upcoming event of interest.

The Library Company of Philadelphia will be hosting Philadelphia’s first National Digital Stewardship Alliance (NDSA) Meeting, to be held on January 23rd and 24th in 2014.  Please mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information on this event.  Speakers will include Emily Gore from the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) along with a talk about the National Agenda for Digital Stewardship (identifies and communicates the challenges, opportunities, and priorities for digital preservation activities in the United States) and other lightning talks themed on standards for digital preservation.

There is an increase in the number of people reading through the information available in the libraries, may it be the students and even people doing research are all there to work through the information given. At the same time if we have a look at the details we will come to know the way the new age people are getting information from the world around. In this digital world, it is not always possible to read through the given details in the library in the speed the world is traveling, instead, we have a location nowadays where digitally all the information is readily available.

At the same time, there is a lot of users who have been using digital resources and tools for being used for more and more research. This might be included one by one right from audio and video files that are all given easy access from internet-enabled services and even laptop and smartphones as well. Once digitized the entire library is easily accessible and how very well used they can all be. Digital libraries have always been so versatile and at the same time, they have been very well improved as soon as the internet was also introduced. There is a need to improve the data regularly hence special notice needs to be done on the data so that they can be well read.
