Job Opportunity: Post-Doc at American Philosophical Society

The American Philosophical Society (APS) Library invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship to research the history of the APS and create an interactive web-based timeline and other special digital exhibits for its 275th anniversary in 2018. The successful candidate will identify key events in the institution’s history, important documents related to this history, and other pertinent information, and then work with Library staff to develop and publish an interactive timeline. In addition, the fellow will be expected to digitize archival materials and work on developing other web-based resources to celebrate the Society’s history.

Applicants with training and research interests in the digital humanities, American history, the history of science, or intellectual history are especially encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have experience with the development of digital resources and a demonstrated interest in working in a library environment.

Applications will be accepted through August 27, 2017. The start date is early fall, ideally before October. Applicants must have defended their dissertation before beginning employment.

Salary: $45,000 per year + benefits.
